Howe Park Shooting Results in Four People Injured in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade

Officials in Sacramento County are looking into a shooting incident that occurred on April 18 2026 at the Howe Community Park area just as authorities were dissolving an unauthorized event of an estimated several hundred individuals.

How It Started

Deputies initially responded to the park on Howe Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 Avenue shortly before 6:30 PM after obtaining information of persons possibly in possession of concealed weapons. Shortly after, a second caller reported concerning a reported physical confrontation breaking out inside the park.

A sheriff's airship scanned the area from the air but came back with no confirmation of a fight. Nevertheless, deputies found that a massive group had packed into the park without permission.

How the Shooting Unfolded

Law enforcement personnel began the process of clearing the park by encircling the gathering and broadcasting over loudspeakers ordering those gathered to clear out. Approximately 15 minutes were given for people to comply.

As the crowd was being cleared that an estimated 20 to 25 shots were discharged. The shots sent the crowd running in all directions. Deputies at once began searching for victims.

The Shooting Victims

Altogether, four individuals were discovered with shooting injuries. The shooting victims — a group of one female and three male victims each reported to be in their 20s — were taken to local Sacramento hospitals. Hospital staff confirmed that two of the four had injuries classified as immediate, one person had injuries of a moderate nature, and one had injuries classified as minor. As of last report, all four victims survived and were stable.

Metro Fire Sacramento arrived on scene and aided in treating shooting victims before they were taken to the hospital.

Physical Evidence

The main crime scene was confirmed to have occurred on the Cottage Way corridor close to the Home Depot at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. Investigators found additional shell casings on Cottage Way. Projectile impacts were identified in the wrought iron perimeter fencing alongside the Home Depot store. These findings indicated that a shooter had been discharging rounds toward the south from the Cottage Way area aimed at the Home Depot store. That Home Depot location was locked down while law enforcement worked the area. CSI investigators and detectives stayed at the location well into the night.

Suspect Information

Reports confirmed through law enforcement radio communications showed that a Kia vehicle had been stopped in Solano County. Four suspects were in the vehicle at the time of the stop. Sheriff's units were traveling to Solano County to return them to Sacramento for processing in Sacramento County. Footage analyzed by investigators confirmed that the shooting involved two separate gunmen.
